The Full Plan
I've been in schools where the air conditioning doesn't work in August, where the roof leaks when it rains, and where the bathrooms aren't maintained. That tells students something about how much we value them. We can do better — and I'm going to fight for it.
The physical condition of a school building matters more than many people realize. Research consistently shows that students perform better in clean, safe, well-maintained facilities. When schools are in disrepair, it signals to students and teachers alike that they are not a priority.
Ward 9 schools need a board member who will pay close attention to facilities funding — ensuring that maintenance budgets are adequate, that deferred repairs don't compound into costly emergencies, and that capital improvement projects benefit Ward 9 equitably alongside the rest of the parish.
Brandon will also advocate for modern infrastructure that supports 21st-century learning: reliable internet access, updated lab and classroom equipment, and facilities that can safely accommodate students' needs for years to come.
Specific Commitments
Audit Ward 9 facility conditions. Brandon will push for a transparent, public assessment of the current state of every Ward 9 school building and what repairs or upgrades are needed.
Fight for equitable capital funding. Infrastructure dollars should be distributed fairly across the parish. Brandon will monitor capital allocations to ensure Ward 9 isn't deprioritized.
Prevent deferred maintenance from compounding. Small problems become expensive crises when they're ignored. Brandon will advocate for proactive, properly funded maintenance schedules.
Modern learning environments. Brandon supports investments in technology infrastructure, updated science labs, and flexible classroom spaces that prepare students for the future.
